Serenity focuses on floating AI data centers: Samsung Heavy Industries aims for commercial deployment by 2028, with free seawater cooling to solve power and land bottlenecks.
According to Mars Finance, on July 4th, Serenity stated that floating AI data centers and ocean computing already exist, with their core advantage being significant energy savings through natural seawater cooling. This is particularly beneficial for areas with limited land resources, similar to the concept of "orbital computing." Samsung Heavy Industries plans to launch its first commercial floating AI data center, approximately 50MW, in 2028, while Singapore's Keppel is also advancing a similar project, expected to be operational that same year. Serenity also noted that Microsoft previously explored submerged data centers under Project Natick, but this has since been terminated; this is not the same concept as the currently discussed floating data centers. This addresses two major pain points in AI infrastructure: power and cooling. Furthermore, its modular and mobile characteristics are naturally suited to areas with scarce land.
Nvidia-backed Nscale secures $900 million in revolving credit to accelerate its global AI data center expansion.
Mars Finance reports that Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure startup backed by Nvidia, announced on Tuesday that it has secured a $900 million revolving credit facility to accelerate its data center construction in Europe, the US, and the Asia-Pacific region. The company completed a $2 billion funding round earlier this year, valuing the company at $14.6 billion. (Cailian Press)
Bitcoin bullish sentiment was supported by a decline in inflation expectations, with the market focusing on the July CPI data.
According to Mars Finance, the cryptocurrency market continued its stabilizing trend, with Bitcoin rising nearly 7% in the week ending July 5th, marking its strongest weekly performance since March. This surge was primarily driven by declining inflation expectations. The break-even inflation rate, a measure of market inflation expectations, has recently declined significantly, with the two-year indicator falling below 2%, approaching the Federal Reserve's inflation target level, and long-term inflation expectations also weakening. Simultaneously, WTI crude oil prices have fallen in tandem with inflation expectations, dropping to levels similar to those before the geopolitical conflict in February, prompting the market to reassess inflationary pressures, interest rate cut expectations, and the dollar's trajectory. Some analysts believe that a weaker dollar index (DXY) will further reduce resistance to Bitcoin's rise, as the two typically have a negative correlation. However, others caution that service sector inflation remains sticky, and declining oil prices do not necessarily indicate a reversal in the overall inflation trend; monetary policy may continue to maintain a "higher and longer" stance. The next key market juncture is the US June CPI data on July 14th, which could be a crucial catalyst for determining the inflation path and the direction of risk assets.
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung: Launch a "speed war" in three major projects: semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers.
According to Mars Finance, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, speaking at a joint meeting of the public and private sectors on the "three super projects"—semiconductors, physical artificial intelligence (AI), and AI data centers—held at the Blue House on the 6th, stated that the key to these three projects lies in winning the "speed battle." Lee emphasized that competition in cutting-edge industries is crucial to the fate of all nations, and the ultimate winner will be who acts faster. He stated that the government should eliminate any obstacles that companies may encounter during investment and project construction in advance, and must not allow delays in administrative approval procedures to affect investment and project implementation. Lee stated that the Blue House will establish special working groups for the three projects as soon as possible, and the government will provide maximum support. Currently, the semiconductor industry is generating a large amount of unexpected tax revenue, and the government will fully utilize relevant financial resources to provide guarantees for project construction in all aspects, including financial support. Cisco unveils Nexus One, the next-generation data center architecture designed to reshape network infrastructure for AI.
PANews reported on July 5th that networking technology giant Cisco officially announced the launch of its data center network architecture, Cisco Nexus One. Positioned as an open network architecture for AI workloads and next-generation security threats, it upgrades Cisco's long-evolving ACI system. Cisco stated that Nexus One will integrate with Cisco's unified platform, Cisco Cloud Control, aiming to improve architectural flexibility, openness, and scalability while maintaining backward compatibility with existing systems. However, Nexus One is not a standalone product, but rather an "architectural evolution" similar to ACI, shifting its focus from early innovation to standardization and cross-ecosystem interoperability to adapt to the complex network needs of the AI/ML era.
