Coinbase CLO: Former U.S. Deputy Attorney General submits "masterpiece" supporting documentation in Kalshi lawsuit
Odaily Odaily reports that Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal stated that Prelogar, former U.S. Deputy Attorney General representing the Coalition for Prediction Markets, has submitted an amicus brief in support of Kalshi to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, calling it a "masterpiece." Paul Grewal points out that the document not only outlines the historical context of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's exclusive regulatory authority over prediction markets but also presents three key arguments: 1. Prediction markets can uniquely aggregate market information and transform it into simple price signals, which are then aggregated by market participants. 2. Prediction market users trade based on prices that market participants are willing to accept. They cannot control contract prices and bear a legal obligation to provide users with fair access to the contract. 3. The laws of various states in the United States are not suitable for regulating prediction markets because their core objectives are not to maintain a fair market, price discovery, information aggregation, risk hedging, or prevent market manipulation.
Data: BlackRock transferred 3,625 BTC and 20,598 ETH to Coinbase.
According to ChainCatcher, as monitored by Onchain Lens, BlackRock has just transferred 3,625 BTC (approximately $212.43 million) and 20,598 ETH (approximately $32,390,000) to Coinbase, and it is expected that more assets may be transferred in later.
BlackRock deposited approximately $257 million in BTC and ETH into Coinbase Prime, bringing Hyperscale Data's assets to full coverage of its circulating market capitalization.
According to ChainCatcher and BBX data, institutional investors' perception of Bitcoin's bottom diverged yesterday. Key developments include: BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE: $BLK) yesterday deposited 2,700 BTC (approximately $169 million) and 52,956 ETH (approximately $88.17 million) into its Coinbase Prime institutional custody account, totaling approximately $257 million. The report also indicated that further deposits might be made. This deposit occurred against the backdrop of BTC approaching the key technical support level of $59,000, leading to differing market interpretations: Optimistic interpretations suggest BlackRock actively replenished its position at an extremely low fear index of 18, signaling a bottom-fishing strategy from institutional investors; cautious interpretations suggest this might be a passive portfolio adjustment due to IBIT redemptions or internal asset rebalancing, and does not necessarily represent new purchases. Regardless of its purpose, the $257 million figure represents approximately 0.5% of IBIT's current AUM of around $48-50 billion, a relatively small amount. However, as a signal of institutional behavior in an extremely fearful market environment, it carries significant emotional reference value. Hyperscale Data Inc (NYSE: $GPUS) recently disclosed its balance sheet, showing that the company holds approximately $94.8 million in cash, restricted cash, Bitcoin, and silver, equivalent to 100.42% of its total common stock market capitalization—meaning its physical assets fully cover its current circulating market capitalization. The company holds a 10-year, $1.2 billion AI Computing Master Service Agreement (MSA) providing 20 megawatts of AI computing power to its Michigan facility, allowing it to continuously accumulate Bitcoin and precious metals through the contract's cash flow without incurring debt. This business model—locking in cash flow through AI computing power contracts and continuously accumulating hard assets with zero leverage—has been described by analysts as an "anti-strategy, deleveraged version of the digital asset reserve model," providing a stark contrast to the current market context where strategy-leveraged models are under pressure.
