Category Labs launches Cadence, a new consensus protocol designed to alleviate the MEV problem at the protocol level.
Foresight News reports that Category Labs (formerly Monad Labs) has announced the launch of Cadence, a new consensus protocol that employs a Multiple Concurrent Proposer (MCP) mechanism. This mechanism supports multiple block proposers participating concurrently in consensus, achieving extremely short block intervals without sacrificing latency. Test data shows that, based on a simulated network of 200 global nodes, the average final confirmation time is 219 milliseconds, and the average speculative confirmation time is 167 milliseconds. The team stated that, combined with the cryptographic memory pool design BTX, Cadence represents a significant step towards solving the MEV problem at the protocol layer.
Bio Protocol launches OpenLabs, a crowdfunding platform focused on research crowdfunding for collaboration between humans and AI agents.
According to Foresight News , the decentralized scientific research (DeSci) platform Bio Protocol has launched OpenLabs, positioned as a coordination layer connecting scientific ideas with funding execution, allowing humans and AI agents to jointly advance research projects. The core process involves posting ideas, which are then discussed and voted on by the community to become formal projects. Projects include collaborative spaces, bounty tasks, and funding channels; mature projects can be listed on the Bio Protocol launchpad for fundraising. The platform comprises five modules: post discovery, project collaboration, agent participation, USDC yield staking (2%-4% annualized return, principal unaffected, yield only used to cover computing power costs), and a bounty system. It is currently online, with the first batch of projects showcased on the platform. Voting, private data rooms, and the launchpad will be added gradually.
Venus proposed shutting down 87 deprecated markets across multiple chains, requiring users to withdraw by June 29th.
According to Foresight News , decentralized lending protocol Venus Protocol has released a proposal to integrate 87 abandoned markets across 8 chains, including BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Arbitrum. The proposal will be implemented in two steps: first, the reserve ratio will be increased to 100%, and borrowing rates will be significantly raised to encourage users to exit; second, the collateral factor and liquidation threshold for the relevant markets will be reduced to zero during the week of June 29th, at which point related positions will face liquidation risk. Venus strongly advises borrowers or depositors in the aforementioned markets to close their positions or withdraw their assets before this date.
Sei Labs releases Giga White Paper V2, adding privacy and fairness design.
According to Foresight News , Sei Labs has released Giga White Paper V2, adding privacy and fairness designs. It reduces the finality target of Giga's Autobahn consensus protocol from 400 milliseconds to below 250 milliseconds while maintaining a throughput of 200,000+ transactions/5 Gigagas per second. The new white paper introduces the Sedna private transaction layer and a deterministic transaction ordering mechanism to provide pre-execution privacy, resistance to MEVs, and censorship resistance. Sei Labs stated that the Giga upgrade is underway, with future development including a complete transaction fee mechanism, an Autobahn consensus upgrade, and the new SEI token, tokenomics.
Cactus Custody integrates with Venus Protocol via Cactus Link.
According to Foresight News , BIT announced that its brand Cactus Custody has integrated with Venus Protocol via Cactus Link, providing institutional clients with a new pathway to the BNB Chain on-chain lending market. Within the existing custody environment, approval process, and risk control system, institutional clients can participate in the Venus lending market using eligible collateral. Matrixdock's tokenized gold XAUM is now available as collateral.
Ethlabs: Funding can support 2-3 years of operation; it has a complementary partnership with the Ethereum Foundation.
According to Foresight News , Ethlabs, an independent non-profit research and development organization supported by treasury companies such as BitMine, has responded to frequently asked questions since its founding a week ago. Regarding funding, Ethlabs stated that it has not yet disclosed the specific amount raised, but the funds already received are committed to supporting the team's operations for 2-3 years (including talent recruitment), and emphasized that it will continue to raise funds, not raise funds all at once; the community round is still open, and the team plans to close this round of funding after announcing a new batch of supporters. The donation address has been updated from eth-labs.eth to ethlabs.eth (both are acceptable). Regarding their work direction, Ethlabs stated that they are still defining specific milestones and roadmaps, but shared three main areas of focus: Chain: Core protocol work, including L1 execution layer scaling, blob scaling, and shortening final confirmation and transaction inclusion time; Platform: The middleware layer between the protocol and developers, including cross-chain interoperability, block building marketplace, and EVM roadmap; Growth: Driving the implementation of technologies such as the Fast Confirmation Rule on mainstream L2 and centralized exchanges. This rule can reduce the deposit time from Ethereum to L2/exchanges to a few seconds, but requires each party to connect individually. Regarding its relationship with the Ethereum Foundation, Ethlabs stated that the two have a complementary partnership, emphasizing that Ethereum does not belong to any single organization. EF, client teams, core developers, L2, wallets, etc., are all indispensable components, and Ethlabs is an "additional supplementary force" to Ethereum. Regarding the choice of a non-profit model, the team stated that the funders are major ETH holders and Ethereum builders, and that they will not gain control over the direction or influence the roadmap through their contributions. Furthermore, the team believes that the mechanism of "continuous fundraising in the future" itself provides a form of accountability.
