ZetaChain will gradually shut down its traditional cross-chain services and shift its focus to an AI-powered private memory layer.
According to Foresight News , ZetaChain announced that it will gradually shut down its traditional cross-chain infrastructure to focus on Anuma and next-generation user-owned memories, identity, permissions, payments, and AI agents. According to the transition plan, ZetaChain will complete the decommissioning of traditional cross-chain services in three phases: from June 1st (the platform will completely stop deposits, but users can continue to withdraw eligible assets); before June 30th (a final withdrawal window will be provided to users); from June 30th (all ZRC20 token withdrawals will be suspended indefinitely, and cross-chain monitoring of 10 chains including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Base, BSC, Polygon, Avalanche, Sui, and TON will be terminated).
BNB Chain plans to launch a new Layer 1 blockchain, with the mainnet expected to go live in 2027.
According to Mars Finance, BNB Chain is developing a new Layer 1 blockchain for Agentic Trading and has released its first detailed architecture information after months of development. According to BNB Chain's technology roadmap for the second half of 2026, the new chain will run in parallel with the existing BNB Chain ecosystem, aiming to achieve transaction preconfirmation of less than 50 milliseconds. This aims to provide an execution experience close to that of a centralized exchange (CEX) while retaining the advantages of on-chain self-custody and transparency. In terms of technical architecture, the new chain will remove the traditional public mempool and introduce a transaction transmission mechanism called "TxStream," which directly sends transactions to block producers to reduce latency and minimize MEV extraction behaviors such as sandwich attacks.

Vitalik Buterin released a new proposal suggesting that the consensus layer state be drastically reduced to only 6 bytes.
According to Foresight News , Vitalik Buterin has released a new proposal, "The Extremely Lean Chain." The core of this proposal is to significantly simplify the state stored by each validator in the current Beacon chain (public key, withdrawal certificate, activation/exit epoch, etc.), retaining only 6 bytes (1 byte for effective balance + 5 bytes for deposit tree index). Validators will need to track their deposit Merkle proofs themselves and asynchronously update their effective balance and participation records using daily generated STARK proofs, instead of having these updates processed in real-time on-chain every epoch. The proposal is planned to proceed in multiple phases: removing public key storage and replacing it with a deposit tree index, with daily STARK proofs used to update the balance; subsequently, a daily public key refresh mechanism will be introduced to achieve strong anonymity of validator identities, while naturally supporting Single Secret Leader Election (SSLE). This design is considered feasible in the context of Lean upgrades such as single-slot finality (SSF) and recursive STARK, aiming to significantly reduce consensus layer state overhead and computational burden, support the number of validators to the millions, and provide strong privacy protection in advanced versions.
Onyx: Layer 3 will be deprecated and shut down by the end of 2026, with a shift in focus to Onyx Layer 1.
According to Foresight News , Onyx Protocol announced that Onyx Layer 3 (XCN Ledger) will be deprecated and shut down on December 31, 2026, and development will shift entirely to Onyx Layer 1. Onyx stated that this transition will not change XCN itself. Ethereum ERC-20 contracts will remain the primary representation of XCN, and holders will continue to cross-chain asset transfers between Ethereum and Onyx Layer 1 as needed. As part of this transition, XCN holders will be able to seamlessly bridge their Ethereum-based XCNs to Onyx Layer 1, enabling participation in staking, applications, and future network features.
