Ryan Salame's wife faces charges for allegedly using FTX funds to finance a congressional campaign.

PANews reported on June 18 that, according to Cointelegraph, Michelle Bond, wife of former FTX executive Ryan Salame, faces criminal charges for allegedly using FTX funds to fund her 2022 congressional campaign. Manhattan Federal Judge George Daniels has rejected Bond's application to dismiss the charges, ruling that the case will proceed. Bond previously claimed that prosecutors promised not to prosecute her in exchange for Salame pleading guilty, but the judge ruled that such a promise was not included in the plea agreement. Prosecutors allege that Bond obtained $400,000 from FTX through a consulting agreement and received hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional funds from Salame, which she allegedly used to illegally fund her campaign, while concealing the source of the funds and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission. Bond faces four charges, each carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Visa's second-quarter revenue reached $11.2 billion, a 17% year-over-year increase, while its stablecoin settlement pilot program achieved an annualized scale of $7 billion.

According to Mars Finance, Visa announced its second-quarter results for fiscal year 2026, with net revenue of $11.2 billion, a 17% year-over-year increase; GAAP net income of $6 billion, a 32% year-over-year increase; and earnings per share of $3.14, a 36% year-over-year increase, all exceeding market expectations. The board authorized a new $20 billion multi-year stock buyback program in April. Regarding stablecoin business, Visa's settlement pilot program has reached an annualized scale of $7 billion, a 50% increase from the previous quarter, covering nine blockchain networks (including Polygon and Base), and operating over 130 stablecoin-linked card programs in more than 50 countries. In March of this year, Visa partnered with Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure company under Stripe, to expand stablecoin-linked cards to over 100 countries. As reported in early June, Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe are exploring the joint development of a stablecoin platform. If the three major payment networks cooperate on stablecoin infrastructure, it could establish a de facto standard for the circulation of the digital dollar in global commerce.

Sources say Visa and Mastercard are in talks with Stripe and Coinbase about stablecoin platform partnerships.

According to Mars Finance, on June 8th, Fortune, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that Visa and Mastercard are in discussions with companies such as Stripe and Coinbase to form a stablecoin alliance and launch a new stablecoin platform. The negotiations may involve more participants. If the collaboration is finalized, it will have a significant impact on the over $300 billion stablecoin market. Leveraging the extensive global retail payment coverage of Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe, the new platform is expected to further promote the adoption of stablecoins in everyday payment scenarios. The market is also paying attention to the impact of this plan on Circle. Currently, USDC holds a large share of the regulated stablecoin market in North America and Europe. Industry insiders believe that Visa, Mastercard, and Coinbase may use the alliance to encourage merchants to use their own stablecoins, thereby obtaining new revenue streams such as reserve interest. For Coinbase, it still benefits from the agreement reached with Circle in 2023, receiving a large share of USDC reserve revenue, while Circle is responsible for main operations and regulatory matters. However, as the two parties renegotiate the terms of their cooperation, Coinbase may hope to seek more opportunities through new stablecoin partnerships. Reports indicate that the companies involved have not yet reached a formal agreement, and may not even have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), remaining at the initial discussion stage. Analysts believe that forming a cross-industry alliance faces challenges such as complex coordination, competitive relationships, and antitrust scrutiny; therefore, it will likely take several months before the project is truly implemented, and its ultimate success remains uncertain.
