The SEC investigation involves Futu and Tiger Brokers for alleged insider trading, allegedly profiting $100 million through options betting.

According to Mars Finance, sources familiar with the matter revealed that U.S. regulators are investigating allegations filed by Susquehanna International Group. The allegations allege that unknown insider traders profited $100 million through options betting prior to the recent Chinese regulatory crackdown on cross-border brokerages Futu and Tiger Brokers. Susquehanna made these allegations public in a lawsuit filed on June 29 in Manhattan federal court. Sources indicate that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reviewing the transactions described in the market maker's complaint. Susquehanna claims in the lawsuit that it lost over $70 million as the counterparty to most of the alleged insider trading. The lawsuit alleges that traders purchased U.S. exchange-traded options from Chinese securities firms that were subsequently targeted in the May 22 regulatory crackdown. The scope and stage of the SEC investigation are currently unclear. A U.S. judge granted Susquehanna's request to freeze related accounts on June 29. The Chinese government stated that Futu and Tiger Brokers provided unlicensed trading services to mainland residents. Shares of both companies fell after the May 22 announcement. Futu was fined RMB 1.85 billion by regulators, and founder Leaf Li's wealth decreased by $1.7 billion in a single day.

Industrial Securities: The news regarding Meta's external leasing and sales of computing power should not be interpreted overly pessimistically as a sign of computing power surplus.

According to Mars Finance, on Wednesday, news that Meta plans to sell its surplus AI computing power triggered a sharp correction in global AI hardware and high-flying technology stocks. Xingye Securities believes that the news regarding Meta's external leasing and sale of computing power should not be interpreted overly pessimistically as a surplus of computing power/a comprehensive slowdown in Capex, because (1) this is not new news; there were related reports in May of this year; (2) Meta is a special case among hyperscalers; its toC-oriented business means its AI monetization capabilities mainly rely on advertising, and its exploration of cloud business can improve shareholder returns and cash flow; (3) Meta still has a computing power gap; this week, it was just reported that Google restricted its access and Meta signed an agreement with Crusoe; (4) hardware demand comes from inference, not from inflation on the training side.
