Kimi's B-end head: The AI industry has a bubble but solid fundamentals; API price increases stem from computing power shortages.
According to ChainCatcher, citing 21st Century Business Herald, Huang Zhenxin, head of the B2B division at Moonshot AI's Kimi, stated at a recent communication meeting that while there is indeed a bubble in the AI industry, its fundamentals are very solid. Enterprises can now clearly calculate their return on investment (ROI), and AI has brought about a substantial qualitative change in productivity. Regarding the recent widespread price increases by model vendors, Huang Zhenxin pointed out that the core reason is the rising global computing power costs and the inability of chip production capacity to meet the explosive growth in token demand. He emphasized that evaluating the cost-effectiveness of a model should not only consider the unit price of inputs and outputs, but should focus on the cache hit rate. It is understood that Kimi's original cache hit rate has reached over 90%, significantly reducing actual computing costs. Furthermore, Huang Zhenxin revealed that Kimi will continue to challenge underlying architectural innovation to perpetuate the Scaling Law, and its Muon optimizer, which was first validated on a large scale, is now widely used by many mainstream large-scale models in the industry. Regarding the "last mile" of enterprise AI implementation, he believes that as the basic capabilities of models continue to improve, the technical paradigm of the application layer will also continue to simplify.
Coinbase has cut AI spending by nearly half by defaulting to open weight models such as GLM and Kimi.
On June 29th, PANews reported that Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong shared the company's experience in optimizing AI spending. He pointed out that while token usage has grown exponentially, AI spending has been reduced by nearly half through better default settings, routing, and caching strategies, rather than relying on usage caps and alert mechanisms. Regarding default settings, Coinbase is using open-source weighting models (such as Zhipu's GLM 5.2 and Moon's Dark Side's Kimi 2.7) as the default option through its LLM gateway, while encouraging engineers to choose the correct model for specific tasks. Since 91% of the company's employees never reach the usage cap, the team opted to switch to cheaper default settings rather than lowering the cap.
Kimi is seeking to raise up to $2 billion at a valuation of $30 billion.

Moonshot AI is currently in early-stage talks with potential investors and plans to raise more than $1 billion. Meanwhile, the company is nearing completion of a $2 billion funding round led by Meituan. As of April, Moonshot AI's annual recurring revenue had exceeded $200 million, driven by increased demand for its Kimi chatbot and large language models. Furthermore, the company is dismantling its offshore structure to pave the way for an initial public offering in Hong Kong and plans to establish a joint venture structure to allow foreign investment. The company recently launched Kimi Work, a general-purpose AI agent based on its K2.6 series models. (Bloomberg)
Github Copilot integrates the open-source model Kimi K2.7.
According to Mars Finance, Dark Side of the Moon announced that Github Copilot has integrated its first open-source model, Kimi K2.7.
Anthropic included the Kimi K2.7 alongside Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 in its joint security testing.
Mars Finance reported on July 1st that Silicon Valley AI giant Anthropic announced the lifting of export controls on its advanced models Fable 5 and Mythos 5. In its updated security technical notes, Anthropic also included China's Kimi K2.7 alongside Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 in a core security capability assessment. The report indicates that in security testing, Kimi K2.7, GPT-5.5, and Opus 4.8 all successfully identified the same core vulnerability. In demonstration tasks involving a single vulnerability exploit, Kimi K2.7 yielded results consistent with Fable 5. (Wide Angle Observation)
