StarkWare CEO proposes a 4% annual inflation rate for Bitcoin instead of the 21 million coin cap.

PANews reported on July 8th that, according to Cointelegraph, StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson posted on the X platform proposing to replace the current hard cap of 21 million Bitcoins with a 4% annual issuance rate. He believes the current hard cap is "unreasonable" because private keys will be lost over time, "and when time approaches infinity, all private keys will be lost." Ledger estimates that approximately 4 million Bitcoins have already been permanently lost. Ben-Sasson stated that a 4% annual issuance rate roughly matches the global population growth rate. This proposal has sparked strong opposition from the community. Opponents argue that the fixed cap is the core value of Bitcoin, and that Bitcoin can be divided into 2.1 quadrillion satoshis, which is sufficient to address the issue of declining available supply.

StarkWare plans to significantly reduce the number of validators in its STRK Delegation Program, raising the cap on a single delegate to 20 million.

According to a proposal released by StarkWare, as reported by Foresight News , StarkWare plans to make significant adjustments to its STRK delegation program, reducing the number of validators from over 130 to a maximum of 31, shifting its strategy from "expanding coverage" to "deepening cooperation." The third round of delegation is divided into two channels: Channel A has a maximum of 26 slots, with each validator receiving at least 15 million STRK delegated, up to a maximum of 20 million. Selection criteria include a 99% mainnet uptime over the past three months and meeting one of the following criteria: ranking among the top 8 in STRK staking (excluding StarkWare and the Starknet Foundation), a leading cross-chain infrastructure provider (up to 8 additional slots), or an ecosystem application developer with an average monthly network fee payment of at least $2,000 over the past three months (up to 10 additional slots). Channel B has a maximum of 5 slots, with each validator receiving 5 million STRK, open to community members actively participating in decentralized discussions, requiring a 99% uptime on mainnet and testnet. The new rules are expected to take effect in five weeks, and community feedback is currently open for two weeks.

Mantle's third tokenized stock, Bending Spoons (BSPx), has officially launched.

According to Foresight News , following the listings of SPCXx and USPXx within weeks of their public offerings, BSPx has officially launched on Mantle. BSPx represents the tokenized stock of Bending Spoons, which owns brands such as WeTransfer, Vimeo, Evernote, and AOL. BSPx is issued by xStocks and is already available for trading on Fluxion. BSPx trades through Fluxion's hybrid infrastructure, where its Atomic RFQ mechanism anchors to real-time market quotes during trading hours to support pricing; meanwhile, the AMM execution mechanism ensures that trading continues uninterrupted after the market closes. BSPx is the third tokenized stock to launch on Mantle in less than a month. SPCXx launched on June 19th, and USPXx on June 23rd. Mantle states that this makes it one of the first L2 networks to be able to tokenize newly listed stocks and bring them on-chain at a traditional market listing pace. Foresight News previously reported that xStocks' xPoints are now available on Mantle. Simultaneously, the Mantle DEX Fluxion is offering an additional 1 million Fluxion Points as a reward to users. Therefore, every eligible BSPx trade can participate in both reward programs: earning xPoints (the native xStocks reward) and sharing an additional 1 million Fluxion Points based on trading volume and liquidity contribution. This reward covers the entire xStocks asset portfolio, including TSLAx, NVDAx, AAPLx, METAx, GOOGLx, MSTRx, SPCXx, USPXx, and BSPx.

Espresso releases Flock, a SNARK proof-maker that enables post-quantum proofs of Bitcoin in 2.5 seconds.

Foresight News , blockchain infrastructure company Espresso, in collaboration with Ron Rothblum of Succinct and William Wang of NYU, has released Flock, a SNARK proof-maker. Espresso claims this is currently the fastest SNARK proof-maker, with Flock's performance approximately three times faster than the post-quantum transition benchmark for Ethereum given by Vitalik Buterin, and capable of completing the signature hash proof for a single Bitcoin block in 2.5 seconds. On consumer laptops equipped with the Apple M4 Max chip, Flock can perform 661,000 Blake3 compression operations and 338,000 SHA-256 compression operations per second. It is approximately 9 times faster than the previous fastest solution, Binius64, for SHA-256, and approximately 14 times faster than both Binius64 and Plonky3 for Blake3. The team revealed that Flock is still a research prototype, and its development utilized AI programming assistants such as Claude Opus 4.7 and 4.8. It is currently open-source.
