Paradigm led a seed funding round for M1X Global to advance sovereign debt tokenization infrastructure.

According to Mars Finance, on July 8th, crypto venture capital firm Paradigm led a seed round of funding for sovereign debt tokenization platform M1X Global, supporting its expansion of on-chain sovereign debt issuance and management capabilities. M1X Global's core product, USDM1, launched in partnership with the Marshall Islands government, is a USD-denominated sovereign debt instrument issued directly on the public blockchain, backed by 1:1 US short-term Treasury bonds and utilizing New York State legal frameworks to provide investor protection. This round of funding will primarily be used to promote the institutional application of USDM1, including its use as compliant collateral in repurchase, margin, and collateralized financing scenarios, and to deepen integration with banks, custodians, and trading platforms. Previously, M1X Global completed a $3 million oversubscribed angel round of funding in March 2026, with investors including Balaji Srinivasan.

M1X, a platform for tokenizing sovereign debt, has raised $5.5 million in seed funding, led by Paradigm.

ChainCatcher reports that M1X Global, a startup specializing in tokenized sovereign debt, has raised $5.5 million in seed funding, led by Paradigm with participation from Breed VC and others. M1X Global previously partnered with the Republic of the Marshall Islands to assist in the issuance of the on-chain sovereign debt instrument USDM1. This product is a USD-denominated, 1:1 backed by US Treasury bonds, and natively issued by the sovereign nation on a public blockchain. USDM1 was initially issued on Stellar and is currently also available on Canton and Solana. Jordan Goldman, President and COO of M1X, stated that sovereign debt is one of the largest asset classes globally, but prior to USDM1, it did not exist in a native on-chain form. The company aims to establish USDM1 as on-chain sovereign collateral and expand its use in regulated financial markets. The initial application scenario for USDM1 is the disbursement of domestic government aid. Marshall Islands citizens can receive funds through the Lomalo wallet, enabling payments to be completed within seconds without relying on traditional correspondent banking networks. M1X also stated that the recent integration with Bank of Guam, an insurance bank under the U.S. FDIC, further connects USDM1 to regulated banking infrastructure.

Ashton Kutcher has left Sound Ventures to co-found a new venture capital fund with the former head of Meta Libra.

According to a report by TechCrunch, prominent investor Ashton Kutcher will be leaving his co-founded venture capital firm, Sound Ventures, to co-found a new venture capital fund with former NFX partner Morgan Beller (who co-led Meta's Libra crypto project and served as a partner at a16z). The departure is reportedly due to differing investment stage preferences. Sound Ventures tends to support more established, leading AI companies (such as OpenAI and Anthropic), while Kutcher's new fund will strategically shift its focus to underlying technologies, concentrating on early-stage startup investments in AI infrastructure, energy, and deep technologies. This is considered an amicable split, and Kutcher will continue to serve as an advisor to Sound Ventures.
