According to BlockBeats, on June 5th, Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox disclosed a serious vulnerability in the Zcash Orchard pool that could be used to generate an unlimited number of undetectable fake ZECs within the pool. This vulnerability was discovered by security researcher Taylor Hornby on May 29th during a targeted audit using the Anthropic Opus 4.8 model and has been disclosed to the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL). ZODL subsequently coordinated an emergency response from the Zcash ecosystem, and the fix was completed on June 2nd. Due to Orchard's privacy features and the nature of this vulnerability, it is currently impossible to determine whether the vulnerability was exploited before it was patched using cryptographic methods alone.
