Aptos blockchain was found to have a critical vulnerability, with an attack cost of only a few hundred dollars; the team has promptly fixed it.
PANews reported on July 5th that, according to Coindesk, white-hat hackers at security firm Hexens discovered a vulnerability in the Aptos blockchain, which has since been patched. If maliciously exploited, this vulnerability could have put up to $70 billion in digital assets at systemic risk, including stablecoins and cross-chain bridges. In late February, Hexens researchers reported a critical vulnerability in the Move virtual machine (the execution environment for handling on-chain smart contracts) to the Aptos development team. They described it as an "expiration cache vulnerability" that could lead to type confusion, meaning the software could be tricked into mistaking one on-chain resource for another. Researchers simulated the attack in a real network environment with a success rate exceeding 90%.
Hong Kong Cyberport will launch OPC Hub to support small teams in fields such as AI and blockchain.
According to Odaily Odaily, Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Edward Yau, stated that Hong Kong Cyberport will launch OPC Hub, providing dedicated workspaces and other support, such as cloud services, model usage quotas, and AI inference resources, for one-person companies and small teams focusing on artificial intelligence, intelligent agents, blockchain, or related digital technologies. This aims to reduce the early-stage product development and testing costs for AI startups (including one-person companies). (Hong Kong Government Press Release)
Harmony proposes shutting down layer 1, migrating ONE to Ethereum
Harmony proposed sunsetting its layer-1 blockchain and migrating ONE to Ethereum, weeks after an exploit led to plans to discard 109,000 transactions.
YGG Play has released a shutdown guide, advising users to unstake their YGG accounts and redeem in-game points by July 31st.
According to Foresight News , YGG Play, the Web3 game publishing division of YGG, has released a shutdown notice, announcing the closure schedule and user information. The announcement states that starting at 3 PM Singapore time on July 9th, the purchase functions and cross-platform quest system for "LOL Land" and "Waifu Sweeper" will cease operation. July 31st will be the last day of platform support, at which time the main site, Launchpad, and community quest site will all be closed. The announcement recommends that users complete the unstaking of YGG and the redemption of in-game points before July 31. Any compliant balance that is not processed by the deadline will be automatically converted and distributed to the linked wallet after the snapshot on the deadline date. However, the platform will no longer provide manual support for related issues at that time. The games "GIGACHADBAT" and "Ragnarok Breaker" will be operated and played by the Delabs team and Planetarium Labs respectively starting August 1st, and a new token exchange process will be launched. In addition, the originally scheduled 2026 YGG Play Summit has been cancelled.
Vulcan Forged, a blockchain game developer, responded to being added to the watchlist by Binance, stating that PYR and the project are no longer sustainable.
According to Foresight News , Vulcan Forged responded to being labeled a "watch" account by Binance on the X platform, stating that the team understands this (due to its low market capitalization). The team stated that it is now clear that market attention and funding are insufficient to support the continued existence of the PYR token and the Vulcan Forged project, and they anticipate facing significant criticism, anger, and shock. This incident has essentially destroyed any possibility of a revival for the Vulcan and PYR brands. Vulcan Forged revealed that it may relaunch some niche games under a new brand in the future, but for now, this is a fatal blow that the team cannot recover from. Vulcan Forged also expressed shock, noting that the community is aware of the team's consistent commitment to daily operations and development. For the past six years, the team has strived to maintain its belief in blockchain games, but now the focus is severely lacking, and its games, like most blockchain games, have only a few dozen active users.
Autheo officially launched mainnet, aiming to create an "Internet operating system" connecting the Web, blockchain, and AI.
According to BlockBeats, on June 30th, after five years of development, Autheo officially launched mainnet, introducing a decentralized coordination layer designed to enable native interoperability between traditional web, blockchain networks, and AI agents. The project's public beta has attracted over 1.81 million wallet addresses, approximately 970,000 smart contracts, and 8.8 million transactions. Since the first phase of the mainnet launch on May 12th, the number of wallets has increased more than fivefold, and the number of smart contracts has increased more than 15fold. In terms of technical architecture, Autheo integrates TheoID, a decentralized identity solution compliant with W3C standards; the PQCNet communication security framework built on NIST post-quantum cryptography standards (ML-KEM, ML-DSA, SLH-DSA); the Cosmos SDK Layer 0, which natively supports IBC interoperability; and a Layer 1 execution environment compatible with EVM. It adopts a proof-of-stake mechanism and provides block finality guarantees through CometBFT. Developers can natively deploy Solidity smart contracts or migrate existing applications from other EVM-compatible chains. Founded in July 2021 by Scott Bayless and Todd Mortenson, the project has a team of approximately 100 people located in 25 countries and has undergone security audits by Halborn and CertiK. Its native token, THEO, is expected to be listed for trading in early July on [date to be inserted here], with more trading platforms to follow.
