PANews reported on July 8 that Joshua Achiam, chief futurist at OpenAI, announced on the X platform that he will be leaving the company he has worked for for nearly nine years this month.

According to BlockBeats, on July 2nd, Palantir CEO Alex Karp, in an interview with CNBC's "Squawk Box," strongly criticized leading AI model companies, calling the way AI is sold "completely wrong." Karp emphasized that companies are already dissatisfied with "cutting-edge labs" like OpenAI and Anthropic, believing they only pursue token maximization, wasting companies' time and money while handing over proprietary value and IP. Karp stated that companies are "angry" and will commit to owning their own AI production resources rather than relying on third parties. On June 29th, Palantir partnered with Nvidia to deploy Nvidia Nemotron open AI models in sovereign environments, primarily serving the US government and critical infrastructure customers. The collaborative system reportedly integrates Nvidia AI technology with Palantir's AIP, Foundry, Ontology, and Apollo platforms, helping organizations train, customize, and deploy AI locally while maintaining complete control over data, intellectual property, and models.

According to sources at Tencent, Yonglong Tian, a former researcher at OpenAI, has recently joined Tencent's Large Language Model Department and will participate in the research and development of VLM (Visual Language Model). This marks another instance of Tencent poaching talent from OpenAI. On December 17th last year, Tencent announced an upgrade to its large model R&D architecture, establishing the AI Infra Department, AI Data Department, and Data Computing Platform Department. Former OpenAI senior researcher Yao Shunyu was appointed as the Chief AI Scientist in the "CEO/President's Office" (reporting to Martin Lau), and concurrently served as the head of the AI Infra Department and the Large Language Model Department (reporting to Lu Shan). Former OpenAI Chinese researcher Tian Yonglong joins Tencent Hunyuan team
According to Beating's monitoring, Tian Yonglong, a former member of the OpenAI technical team, has confirmed joining Tencent's Hunyuan team and will participate in the research and development of visual language models. Tian Yonglong graduated from Tsinghua University with a bachelor's degree and received his Ph.D. from MIT. He previously served as a senior research scientist at Google Research and Google DeepMind, primarily researching computer vision and generative models. This is another top-tier Chinese AI researcher recruited by Tencent Hunyuan, following the recruitment of Chief AI Scientist Yao Shunyu last December. Tencent recently launched the official version of the Hunyuan Hy3 model, led by Yao Shunyu, under an open-source license. With Tian Yonglong's addition, Tencent Hunyuan's talent pool in multimodal and visual model development will be further strengthened.
