Tether burned 2.5 billion USDT on Ethereum in a single day, the largest single-day destruction since February.
According to Mars Finance, on July 8th, CryptoQuant, citing on-chain data analysis, reported that on July 7th, the Tether Treasury burned $2.5 billion worth of USDT on the Ethereum network, the largest single burn on the network since February this year. This surpasses the $2 billion burn on May 8th and is second only to the historical high of $3.5 billion on February 10th. Simultaneously, the USDT balance flowing in and out of Binance via the Tron network fell to approximately $806 million, the lowest level since December 29th, 2025 ($391 million), falling below the $1 billion mark, indicating a significant contraction in USDT liquidity through the Binance Tron channel. While the large-scale burn by the Tether Treasury primarily reflects redemptions, fund management, or cross-chain rebalancing operations, it is not a direct market signal. However, the simultaneous contraction in Ethereum supply and Binance Tron liquidity warrants continued monitoring to see if the trend of synchronized tightening of liquidity in both stablecoin chains continues.

PANews reported on July 6th that, according to Coinspect Security, a wallet generation vulnerability called "Ill Bloom" is being exploited by attackers, allowing them to control affected wallets and steal funds. This vulnerability has affected wallets on multiple blockchains since 2018, and the affected wallets were still being generated weeks ago, indicating it did not originate from a single software wallet. Coinspect stated that hundreds of accounts had already lost approximately $3 million on May 27th, and another $2 million has been transferred from exposed wallets in the last few hours. Thousands of accounts remain at risk, covering Bitcoin, Ethereum and L2, Tron, and Solana. Coinspect has released an affected address checking tool and is urging wallet providers to integrate lightweight weak seed phrase detection functionality.

According to Odaily Odaily, Huang Licheng, known as "Machi Big Brother," posted a screenshot on the X platform showing a 25x leveraged long position in Ethereum, indicating a position of 11,100 ETH with an entry price of $1,735 and a liquidation price of $1,751. The post was captioned, "Going to make it all back in one trade." However, according to the latest data from Hyperbot, Machi Big Brother closed his long position and reduced his holdings one hour ago. His current position is 10,100 ETH, with a value of approximately $17.8871 million.

Streamex Corp. announced that its gold-backed, tokenized yield-generating security, GLDY, is now available for purchase through regular brokerage accounts. Distributed by FINRA member broker Siebert Financial and custodied by the regulated digital securities platform tZERO, the product is offered by Odaily to accredited investors. GLDY offers a maximum annualized yield of approximately 3.5%, distributed monthly in the form of additional gold, with returns derived from lending the underlying metal to commercial users such as jewelers, mints, and refiners. Streamex stated that GLDY launched in February and gained 24/7 secondary trading on the Solana decentralized exchange Orca in May. Currently, GLDY is only available to verified accredited investors as a regulated security. Streamex is building a tokenization platform for real-world assets and plans to launch digital gold products for general investors, expected to be tradable on decentralized exchanges such as Jupiter, Meteora, and Orca.
