Gemini Omni Flash's rise to the top signifies that Google's video generation model has overtaken competitors like ByteDance within six months, leaping from a lagging position during the Veo era to the forefront.

Mars Finance reported on July 1st that Google released its new self-developed AI image and video generation model, Nano Banana 2 Lite, claiming it to be faster and cheaper than its predecessor. According to reports, Nano Banana 2 Lite can generate an image in 4 seconds, a significant reduction in latency, making it suitable for jobs requiring rapid and iterative modifications or the batch generation of large numbers of images in a short period. Generating a 1K image costs approximately $0.0336 (about 0.23 yuan); in comparison, the standard Nano Banana 2 costs approximately $0.067 for a 1K image, about twice that of the Lite version, and Nano Banana Pro costs approximately $0.134 for 1K/2K images, about four times that of the Lite version. Google also expanded the availability of Gemini Omni Flash. Gemini Omni Flash was initially unveiled at Google I/O earlier this year, with a charging rate of $0.10 per second for video generation. Google also showcased a new demo application, Omni Product Studio, which can transform still images generated by Omni into "cinematic" e-commerce videos. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal on July 7th, as reported by Mars Finance, AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic are offering substantial free computing power and discounts to startups to compete for enterprise customers. The report states that Silicon Valley startup founders are receiving computing credits, token usage limits, and auction-style discounts from AI model companies. Some early-stage companies have received over $3 million in cloud computing and token credits, approaching the median of seed funding in the US according to PitchBook. AI companies hope to acquire customers in the early stages of startups, making their tools an integral part of their business as these companies grow. Cursor offered a 75% discount until July 5th; Google Cloud offered up to $500,000 in cloud computing credits to some startups, along with early access to the Gemini model and, in some cases, support from DeepMind engineers. Microsoft and Amazon Web Services also offer special privileges to startups. OpenAI and Anthropic have recently been particularly focused on Y Combinator startups. In May, Sam Altman announced that OpenAI would offer $2 million in tokens to each startup participating in its accelerator program in exchange for equity. Around the same time, Anthropic increased its free token allocation to Y Combinator startups from $30,000 to $500,000, without requiring equity. OpenAI subsequently adjusted its offer, providing startups with $500,000 in free tokens, without requiring equity, and offering the option to exchange equity for an additional $1.5 million in tokens. These offers reflect the fierce competition among model providers for future large clients. Y Combinator runs four cohorts annually, with recent cohorts featuring approximately 200 companies each, meaning that OpenAI and Anthropic could potentially offer a combined $800 million in AI tokens over the next year. A leaked investigative report from a Myanmar scam Odaily park reveals that global telecom fraud is rapidly evolving towards an "AI industrialization + cross-border encrypted payment" system. These fraud networks use cryptocurrencies to transfer funds and employ automated tools based on large models for multilingual script generation, identity spoofing, and emotional manipulation. The investigation shows that these systems heavily utilize OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini to support "large-scale social media fraud," while funds are rapidly laundered and transferred through on-chain payments and cross-border channels, forming a two-tiered structure of "AI customer acquisition + encrypted settlement," enabling the fraud industry to achieve high automation and transnational expansion capabilities. Furthermore, Elon Musk's Starlink has become the leading network service provider in the Myanmar scam industrial park, with US ISPs handling nearly one-fifth of the park's traffic. In response to the allegations, OpenAI stated that fraudsters using ChatGPT behave in a manner highly similar to ordinary users, making identification difficult. However, they have been using behavioral pattern recognition and risk control systems to ban approximately 100,000 suspicious accounts monthly. Google stated that its AI models have security safeguards in place and emphasized its commitment to "responsible AI development" to limit the use of tools for fraudulent and other illegal purposes.
