The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) revoked Bsquared's main payment institution license.

BlockBeats reported on May 20th that the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) revoked the Main Payment Institution (MPI) license of crypto payment company Bsquared Technology. The reasons cited included deficiencies in risk management and conflict of interest policies, violations of outsourcing regulations, and providing false or misleading information to the regulator multiple times during the license application and on-site inspection process. Bsquared obtained its digital payment token service license 16 months ago and has now been required to submit a closure certificate issued by an auditing firm to confirm that all customer funds have been returned. The MAS stated that it is further reviewing the responsibilities of the company's key management personnel. Currently, only 37 institutions are approved in Singapore to provide digital payment token services, making license revocations relatively rare.

Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Financial Services Bureau Announcement: Further Unlocking the Potential of Distributed Ledger Technology in the Fixed Income Market

PANews reported on June 30 that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau jointly announced the completion of the first phase of their review to promote the further application of distributed ledger technology (DLT) in Hong Kong's fixed income market. The review results show that Hong Kong's current legal and regulatory environment is sufficiently flexible to support the issuance of tokenized bonds. The three landmark tokenized bond issuances by the Hong Kong government and the increasing number of corporate issuances (including those from Asian and Middle Eastern issuers) are prime examples. The next phase will involve legislative review to promote wider application of DLT in the fixed income market and digital asset sector, including allowing the electronic execution of tokenized bond issuance documents and exploring concepts such as "ownership" and "transfer" of tokenized fixed income products.
