Cardano founder: Clarity Act may be "weaponized," stifling industry innovation.

According to Odaily Odaily, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has strongly questioned the U.S. Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, arguing that it could have long-term negative impacts on implementation, political risks, and industry structure. Hoskinson stated that even if the bill passes, the rule-making and implementation process could take up to 15 years, leading to prolonged stagnation in the industry amidst uncertainty. He pointed out that the current political environment in the United States (especially after the FTX incident) has tightened regulations, and new projects may be implicitly considered securities, thereby stifling innovation. He further warned that the bill could be "weaponized" by future rulers and used as a political tool, with different parties potentially using its provisions to target specific projects or industry players once they come to power. In addition, Hoskinson criticized the bill for being overly complex and "American-centric," neglecting global regulatory coordination, and focusing too much on peripheral issues such as stablecoin yields instead of truly addressing the industry's core problems. He believes that this structural design may actually benefit established projects (such as Cardano, XRP, and Ethereum), but it will create higher barriers to entry for new entrants, further exacerbating the trend of industry concentration.
