Both the US and Iran claim they've "win big"? In reality, no agreement has been reached yet, and April 10th may be the next crucial juncture.

According to Mars Finance, on April 8th, Beijing time, nearing the original "ultimatum" deadline, Iran, the United States, and Israel reached a two-week ceasefire agreement under special conditions. With Iranian coordination, the Strait of Hormuz will be safe for passage for the next two weeks. Notably, both sides subsequently declared themselves complete victories. US President Trump, in an interview with AFP on the 7th, said the Iranian uranium enrichment issue would be "perfectly resolved." He also claimed that the two-week ceasefire was a "complete and total victory" for the United States. According to CCTV News, Iran's Supreme National Security Council congratulated the entire Iranian people on the victory in a statement. The statement claimed that the United States had made commitments in principle to: • refrain from further military action; • recognize Iran's continued control over the Strait of Hormuz; • accept Iran's uranium enrichment activities; • lift all first- and second-level sanctions against Iran; • pay compensation for damages caused to Iran. However, this statement was contradicted by subsequent news reports. Iranian Parliament Speaker Qassem Ghalibaf will lead an Iranian delegation to Islamabad, Pakistan, for negotiations with the United States, with Vice President Vance leading the US delegation. The two delegations are expected to hold further negotiations in Islamabad on April 10 to reach a final agreement to resolve all disputes. Furthermore, the Iranian Navy informed ships anchored near the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday morning that passage through the strait still requires Iranian permission. A recording shared by a crew member revealed: "All ships must obtain permission from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy to pass through the strait. Any ship attempting to pass without permission will be destroyed." This suggests that the ceasefire agreement may only be a ceasefire; the two sides have not yet reached an agreement on specific points of conflict, and their attitudes remain so hardline, at least in their public statements.

(Decrypt)
