With the lingering effects of the Crypto Winter still felt, Consensys becomes yet another industry giant to postpone its IPO.

BlockBeats reported on May 14th that Consensys, the Ethereum software giant and developer of the MetaMask wallet, has postponed its potential initial public offering (IPO) from the originally scheduled spring window to at least this fall. This move follows the continued pressure on the crypto market since February, making it another leading crypto company to delay its IPO plans. Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin expressed a long-term bullish view at the Consensus Miami 2026 conference in early May, predicting that "the entire economy will be tokenized." However, the short-term market environment presents real challenges to its listing plans. According to disclosures, the company had previously hired JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs to lead the IPO process and planned to confidentially submit a draft S-1 prospectus to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) around late February. Consensys' last funding round was a Series D round completed in early 2022, raising $450 million and establishing a valuation of approximately $7 billion, attracting participation from well-known investors such as Microsoft and SoftBank. It's worth noting that the regulatory environment has improved for Consensys; the SEC dropped its lawsuit against the company in February 2026, removing a key legal hurdle to its IPO. The company's MetaMask wallet boasts over 30 million monthly active users, and its Infura node service and Linea Layer 2 solution constitute its core infrastructure business.
