OpenAI's former CTO and chief of staff has moved full-time to the foundation, with long-term security operations being transferred to the non-profit parent organization.

According to Beating, Bianca Martin has announced a full-time move to the OpenAI Foundation, joining the AI Resilience project led by co-founder Wojciech Zaremba. Prior to this move, she served as Chief of Technical Staff to former CTO Mira Murati, specializing in emerging technology risks within the AGI Readiness team. Martin joined OpenAI in 2019, where she co-authored the company's first deployment tactics manual and helped launch the researcher visitation program accompanying GPT-3. An internal memo confirmed that this program formed the basis for OpenAI's later red team testing efforts. Currently, the OpenAI Foundation is establishing new core businesses. According to a March announcement, the foundation plans to invest at least $1 billion over the next year, covering four main areas: life sciences, employment economics, community projects, and the newly added AI Resilience. The initial tasks of the AI Resilience project directly target children's AI safety, biometrics, and independent model testing and standards development. In addition to business expansion, the foundation's funding scope is also being updated. When the foundation restructured last October, it retained a 26% stake in OpenAI's commercial entity, valued at approximately $130 billion at the time. Following new funding in February of this year, the official valuation of that stake has exceeded $180 billion. Martin's move to the foundation, valued at $180 billion, indicates that OpenAI is transferring some of its long-term social risk and safety work to a non-profit parent organization.
