DeepSeek is directly competing with Claude Code, and internal sources confirm that it is forming the Harness team.

According to Beating's monitoring, DeepSeek senior researcher Chen Deli confirmed on social media that the company is building a brand new Harness team, directly targeting Anthropic's Claude Code, with a focus on developing "DeepSeek Code Harness". The official recruitment page shows that DeepSeek currently has two key positions open in Haidian District, Beijing: Harness Product Manager and R&D Engineer. It explicitly states that new hires will participate in the entire development process of the "DeepSeek desktop Agent product". The job description defines the core path as "Model + Harness = Agent". DeepSeek has assigned all engineering actions outside the model, such as context management, tool calls, file reading and writing, terminal execution, and test feedback, to the Harness scope. Previously, the developer community had spontaneously launched an open-source terminal project, DeepSeek-TUI, targeting Claude Code. This official move to build the Harness team signifies that DeepSeek is regaining control of the terminal entry point, attempting to directly inject code test feedback from real projects into the evolutionary closed loop of the underlying model.
