Shanghai's foreign trade reached a new high in April, with imports and exports of AI computing power products surging by 85.7%.

According to Mars Finance on May 20th, Shanghai Customs statistics show that in April, Shanghai's total import and export volume reached 455.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14%. This marks a new monthly record high for imports and exports, following February and March, and has maintained a growth trend for 15 consecutive months. Exports reached 196.17 billion yuan, an increase of 17.5%; imports reached 259.73 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5%. In the first four months, Shanghai's total import and export volume reached 1.68 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%, indicating a stable and positive trend in foreign trade. The explosive growth of the artificial intelligence industry has led to a surge in both imports and exports of AI computing power-related products. In April, Shanghai's imports and exports of AI-related products such as integrated circuits, storage components, and computer parts totaled 73.58 billion yuan, a sharp year-on-year increase of 85.7%, contributing 8.5 percentage points to the city's overall foreign trade growth. Bonded logistics accounted for over 60% of this, indicating that Shanghai has deeply integrated into the global AI industry chain and supply chain, further highlighting its global hub function.
