US stock index futures rebounded, chip stocks rallied, and the market focused on the Iran-Israel situation and the SpaceX IPO.

According to Mars Finance, on June 8th, US stock index futures rose in pre-market trading on Monday, with Nasdaq 100 futures up 1.1%, S&P 500 futures up 0.6%, and Dow Jones futures up approximately 85 points. This followed a 4.2% plunge in the Nasdaq Composite Index on Friday, its biggest one-day drop since April 2025, due to profit-taking in chip stocks. Chip stocks rebounded on Monday, with memory chip maker Micron Technology rising over 3% pre-market after a 13% plunge on Friday; Nvidia and Broadcom also rose pre-market. The Philadelphia Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rose 2.4% in early trading on Monday, after a 10% plunge on Friday, its biggest one-day drop in over six years. Regarding the Middle East situation, Iran launched a missile attack on Sunday, raising concerns about the stability of the ceasefire agreement. The Israel Defense Forces subsequently stated that it had launched a "massive strike" against Iran's strategic defense system. International oil prices initially rose, with WTI crude breaking through $92 per barrel, before retreating from their highs after US President Trump stated that Israel and Iran were seeking an "immediate ceasefire." Asian markets were dragged down by Friday's Nasdaq plunge, with the South Korean KOSPI closing down over 8% and Japan's Nikkei 225 down 3.85%. Callie Cox, chief market strategist at Ritholtz Wealth Management, stated that the stock market may be becoming a victim of its own success. Despite an improving job market, persistently high inflation risks remain a concern, and growth stocks and momentum strategies have performed too strongly since their March lows, potentially facing downward pressure in a high-interest-rate, high-inflation environment. This week, the market will also focus on US inflation data and SpaceX's initial public offering (IPO) on Friday. This deal is expected to be one of the largest IPOs in Wall Street history and could be a crucial test of AI valuation logic. Callie Cox noted that historically, mega-IPOs have often occurred during periods of heightened market sentiment, making the impact of SpaceX's listing on market sentiment worth watching.
