Saudi media releases terms of the 14-point memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran
Odaily Odaily reports that Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya TV has released the terms of the 14-point memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, which is more detailed than the version released by Iran's Mehr News Agency:
1. Iran and the United States, along with their allies in the current war, declare an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, effective from the date of signing this Memorandum of Understanding, and pledge to refrain from any further hostile actions against each other, nor from threatening or using force against one another. The final agreement will confirm the provisions of this article and other clauses.
(A permanent and immediate cessation of the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.)
2. Iran and the United States pledged to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and not to interfere in each other's internal affairs.
(The United States pledged not to interfere in Iran's internal affairs and to respect Iran's sovereignty.)
3. Iran and the United States pledged to negotiate and reach a final agreement within a period of no more than 60 days, which could be extended by mutual agreement.
(This clause was not mentioned in the Iranian media version)
4. Upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding, the United States will immediately lift its naval blockade against Iran, prevent any interference or obstruction, and restore Iran's full shipping capacity within a maximum of 30 days; the volume of ship traffic should be proportional to the pre-war volume. The United States also pledges to withdraw its troops from the surrounding area within 30 days of the final agreement being reached.
(To completely lift the naval blockade against Iran within 30 days.)
(The United States has pledged to withdraw troops from the area surrounding Iran.)
5. Upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding, Iran will immediately take measures to ensure that merchant shipping between the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is restored to pre-war levels within 30 days, while also taking into account Iran's need to clear technical obstacles and neutralize mines.
(The Strait of Hormuz will reopen within 30 days, arranged by Iran.)
6. The United States will work with regional partners to develop a comprehensive, mutually agreed-upon plan for Iran's resurgence and development, and will secure at least $300 billion in financial support. The implementation mechanism for this plan will be finalized within 60 days, within the framework of a final agreement.
(The United States and its allies need to provide Iran with a reconstruction plan of at least $300 billion.)
7. The United States pledged to end all types of sanctions currently in place against Iran within the timeframe agreed in the final agreement, including UN Security Council resolutions, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors resolutions, and all major and minor sanctions unilaterally imposed by the United States.
(A final agreement on the nuclear issue must be reached within 60 days, and all major and minor U.S. sanctions against Iran, as well as resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, must be lifted.)
8. Iran reiterated that it will never develop nuclear weapons. Iran and the United States have reached an agreement to properly resolve the fate of enriched uranium and all other mutually agreed nuclear-related issues, including Iran's nuclear needs, through a final agreement; this final agreement will confirm the contents of this clause.
(Reaffirming Iran's commitment not to develop nuclear weapons under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.)
9. Iran and the United States agreed to maintain the status quo until a final agreement is reached: Iran will continue with its nuclear program as it is, and the United States will not impose new sanctions on Iran.
