The U.S. Central Command issued a statement saying that, under the direction of President Trump, the U.S. military carried out a new round of strikes against multiple targets within Iran. The statement said that after the U.S. military struck Iranian targets on June 26 in response to the attack on the merchant ship "Chang Yue," the U.S. gave Iran an opportunity to fulfill the ceasefire agreement. However, at 4:30 a.m. Eastern Time on June 27, the Iranian military launched another one-way attack drone, hitting a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil. The U.S. military stated that this strike was a direct response to Iran's continued attacks on commercial shipping, targeting Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense positions, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying capabilities.
