Metaplanet added 2,823 BTC in Q2; RWA platform Securitize officially listed on the NYSE.
According to ChainCatcher and BBX data, early last week, Asia's largest listed BTC reserve holder announced record-breaking quarterly BTC purchases, and the world's largest RWA tokenization platform officially listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Key developments are as follows: Metaplanet Inc. (TSE: 3350) officially disclosed its Q2 2026 Bitcoin accumulation data on July 1st: It purchased 2,823 BTC at an average price of approximately $78,872 (35.4886 billion yen) throughout the quarter, totaling approximately $225 million. As of June 30th, its total holdings rose to 43,000 BTC, with a total cost of approximately $4.09 billion (overall average price of $95,209). The unique aspects are as follows: The company's dedicated Bitcoin options trading business generated revenue of $10.95 million in Q2. After directly deducting the cost of Bitcoin purchases from this revenue, the effective net average purchase price was approximately $75,032 per coin (still a discount compared to the current market price of approximately $61,000, but saving approximately 4.8% compared to the nominal average price of $78,872); H1 2026 options revenue totaled $29.2 million, with trailing 12-month options revenue of $70.7 million; Q2 BTC Yield (Bitcoin holdings/effective diluted share capital ratio) increased by 6.6% year-on-year; the funds for Bitcoin purchases this quarter came from credit lines, ordinary bond issuance, and options revenue, without using equity dilution methods. The company also disclosed that it has reached an agreement to acquire Siiibo Securities, a licensed Class 1 securities firm in Japan, and include it in its "Project Nova" strategic expansion plan. Securitize Corp. (NYSE: $SECZ) officially completed its SPAC merger with Cantor Equity Partners II ($CEPT) in early July and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the world's first NYSE-listed company with tokenized asset infrastructure as its core business. According to CoinDesk, on its first day of trading on the NYSE, the company simultaneously tokenized $295 million of its own stock and deployed it on the Solana and Avalanche blockchains. This is the largest issuer-led tokenized stock offering to date—Securitize uses its own stock as a tokenization case to counter competitors' third-party synthetic token solutions (i.e., derivative structures with indirect ownership). The company previously managed over $4 billion in tokenized assets and established deep partnerships with NYSE, BlackRock, Computershare, Jump Trading, and others. Q1 2026 revenue was $19.5 million. After its IPO, $SECZ will serve as a valuation benchmark for the RWA tokenization sector, alongside Coinbase (Base Chain) and Galaxy Dig.
Cosmos Labs Co-CEO: dYdX's shift to RWA is a rational choice with limited impact on ATOM.
According to Foresight News , Cosmos Labs co-CEO Barry Plunkett tweeted his comments on dYdX's partnership with Robinhood to launch Arcus. dYdX has proven it can run seriously on-chain and drive industry development, but in recent years has faced pressure from new-generation perpetual contract competitors like Hyperliquid and Lighter, the overall decline of DeFi, and Web 2.5 products like Kalshi. He sees dYdX's shift to RWA through its partnership with Robinhood, which has strong distribution capabilities, as a "rational choice." He believes the impact on ATOM is very limited. The dYdX Chain remains a sovereign chain, and its fees, security, and value accumulation contribute very little to ATOM. The ATOM community also did not pay for the migration of dYdX to Cosmos. This further confirms the Cosmos team's assessment: for teams with distribution capabilities and leading products, having an underlying platform is crucial. Cosmos is currently focused on building tokenized deposit solutions for banks.
Securitize raises $400 million in funding to expand its institutional tokenization business through acquisitions.
PANews reported on July 6th that, according to CoinDesk, NYSE-listed Securitize (SECZ) plans to use over $400 million to expand its institutional tokenization platform through acquisitions of complementary businesses, rather than acquiring competitors. Securitize previously merged with Cantor's SPAC, retaining approximately 70% of the trust funds, raising over $400 million in total. Since its founding in 2017, the company has issued approximately $4.4 billion in tokenized assets, including BlackRock's $2.2 billion U.S. Treasury money market fund BUIDL and nearly $300 million in Securitize's own tokenized shares, making it one of the largest issuers of tokenized assets.
Analysis: Amidst record outflows from ETFs, whale snapped up 270,000 BTC, signaling a structural divergence in Bitcoin's future.
PANews reported on July 5th, citing CoinDesk, that amidst a continued outflow of institutional funds from the US, Bitcoin whale have accumulated over 270,000 BTC (approximately $16.7 billion) in the past two weeks, a stark contrast to the record outflows from US spot Bitcoin ETFs. Analysis indicates this divergence exhibits historical cyclical characteristics: while institutional funds withdraw, long-term holders and whale accounts continue to accumulate, resembling a fund redistribution structure commonly seen at the bottom of previous cycles. On-chain data shows that although the spot premium remains negative, indicating weak buying pressure, large wallets continue to increase their Bitcoin holdings, suggesting the market is currently in a structural phase of "institutional deleveraging and long-term fund accumulation."
CryptoQuant CEO: Bitcoin is poised for another parabolic surge, but deeper institutional allocation is needed.
PANews reported on July 1st that CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju published an article on the X platform stating that Bitcoin is likely poised for another parabolic surge. While capital efficiency is declining—in 2011, a mere $2.7 billion net capital inflow fueled a 55,436% increase, while the current cycle's $697 billion yielded only a 689% return—he believes the next parabolic bull market requires deeper institutional allocation, with Bitcoin becoming a core macro asset rather than a retail-driven ETF. Ki Young Ju stated that this shift is still in its early stages and has not yet been disproven. If Bitcoin can absorb over $1 trillion in realized market capitalization, another parabolic surge is still possible. Currently, gold's market capitalization is approximately $27 trillion.
