Following the "end" of the US-Iran ceasefire, cryptocurrency and stock markets experienced widespread declines.
PANews reported on July 8th that, according to CoinDesk, the US launched airstrikes against Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ships, and Iran subsequently attacked Kuwait and Bahrain. US President Trump announced the "end" of the ceasefire with Iran, calling the negotiations "meaningless," causing a sharp drop in global risk appetite. Bitcoin and Ethereum fell by more than 2%, the CoinDesk 20 index fell by nearly 3%, and Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 futures fell by about 1.5% at one point. In the crypto derivatives market, BTC futures open interest declined slightly, while ETH triggered approximately $90 million in long position liquidations during the price drop. Overall, the 24-hour crypto market saw approximately $450 million in liquidations, of which approximately $350 million came from Altcoin trading pairs. Altcoins generally fell, and Solana erased all gains since July.
JPMorgan Chase and HSBC: Market pullbacks provide a window for investment, not a trend reversal.
According to BlockBeats, on July 6th, as we enter the second half of the year, several Wall Street institutions believe that the recent market correction is more of a repositioning opportunity than a trend reversal. Both JPMorgan Chase and HSBC Holdings believe that short-term volatility in global stock markets will not change the overall upward outlook, but the two institutions differ in their specific allocation strategies. Mislav Matejka, Head of Global and European Equity Strategy at JPMorgan Chase, and his team stated that they have maintained a "buy on dips" view since the outbreak of the Iranian conflict. The bank believes that the global economy remains resilient, the situation in the Middle East has not significantly damaged economic growth, and central banks have not shifted to more aggressive tightening policies. Strategists expect that global and emerging market stock markets are likely to reach new highs in the future, and believe that the attractiveness of international markets is increasing. They also believe that the South Korean market, after its recent correction, is worth buying on dips. In terms of sectors, JPMorgan Chase believes that the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index has presented another buying opportunity after the recent correction, but remains relatively cautious about large-cap US technology stocks. The bank advises caution regarding AI-driven sectors, including software, business services, and media. Conversely, the basic resources sector has regained its investment value after recent adjustments, and gold is becoming more attractive. Strategists also point out that overall investor positioning remains cautious, with the market holding substantial cash reserves. If a summer correction occurs, funds are expected to flow back into the stock market. Max Kettner, Head of Multi-Asset Strategy at HSBC Holdings, is more focused on the recovery opportunities in leading AI companies. He stated that the market is entering its summer rally in July and August, and AI hyperscale cloud service providers have already experienced a cumulative correction of approximately 20%, which is considered excessive. Kettner believes that current market expectations for these companies' earnings have been significantly lowered, and these companies still maintain strong profitability. If they can prove that their massive AI capital expenditures are gradually translating into revenue, it will further drive valuation recovery.
Goldman Sachs: AI investment focus shifts to real-world industries; capital expenditure could reach $7.6 trillion over the next 6 years.
According to a recent report by Goldman Sachs, the focus of artificial intelligence (AI) investment has begun to extend to the broader real economy. While computing power, electricity, and data centers are still under rapid construction, AI is simultaneously entering real-world scenarios such as manufacturing, energy, logistics, defense, life sciences, and robotics. From 2026 to 2031, global AI capital expenditure surrounding computing, data centers, and electricity will reach approximately $7.6 trillion, with annual investment rising from $765 billion in 2026 to $1.64 trillion in 2031. Hyperscale cloud vendors may invest over $6 trillion in AI by 2030. The key to future competition will not only be models or chips, but also capital structure, energy supply, industry data, engineering capabilities, and deployment capabilities. (Cailian Press)
AngelList will cease supporting cryptocurrency investments at the end of July due to the shutdown of its third-party payment service.
According to Foresight News , AngelList, a venture capital firm, announced on its official help page that it will no longer support investment and financing using cryptocurrencies starting July 31, 2026. The announcement stated that its third-party cryptocurrency payment service provider will soon cease operations, therefore the option to use digital assets such as USDC, USDT, DAI, and ETH to complete new investments, fundraising, or rolling fund subscriptions will be suspended across the platform until further notice. Other financing methods, such as ACH transfers and wire transfers, will not be affected. The announcement states that investments completed on or before July 31, 2026, will not be affected by this change and require no action from users; thereafter, users will need to use ACH or wire transfer to complete fund payments. For outstanding capital commitments originally planned to be made in cryptocurrency, AngelList advises investors to transfer all corresponding cryptocurrency assets to their AngelList accounts for safekeeping before July 30, or to complete subsequent investments via wire transfer or ACH. AngelList stated that it is evaluating the possibility of restoring digital asset financing functionality through a new service provider, but there is no definite timetable yet.
Analysis: The AI investment boom is cooling down, and the market is reassessing the sustainability of chip and data center spending.
According to Odaily Odaily, the AI infrastructure investment boom is cooling down, and the market is beginning to reassess the sustainability of chip and data center spending. As investors re-examine whether AI infrastructure investment can be sustained, "AI deals" covering the semiconductor, memory chip, and data center industry chain are showing signs of cooling. Recently, AI-related chip stocks such as Micron Technology (MU) and SanDisk (SNDK) have been under pressure. Samsung Electronics previously reported record second-quarter results, but revenue fell short of market expectations, causing its stock price to drop nearly 7%, dragging down the entire AI chip sector. Market concerns are growing that the current AI boom, driven by GPUs, high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and data center construction, may face repricing as cloud computing giants (Hyperscalers) may slow their investments in AI infrastructure. Meanwhile, South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix's stock price has fallen about 25% from its all-time high ahead of its US IPO, which is also attracting some funds away from existing chip stocks. Analysts point out that after SpaceX's massive IPO boosted valuations of AI-related assets, investors are reassessing the growth logic for the next phase of the AI market. If the AI investment fervor cools further, some funds may flow back from the AI industry chain to other risky assets, including crypto assets. (CoinDesk)
