Goldman Sachs: AI investment focus shifts to real-world industries; capital expenditure could reach $7.6 trillion over the next 6 years.
According to a recent report by Goldman Sachs, the focus of artificial intelligence (AI) investment has begun to extend to the broader real economy. While computing power, electricity, and data centers are still under rapid construction, AI is simultaneously entering real-world scenarios such as manufacturing, energy, logistics, defense, life sciences, and robotics. From 2026 to 2031, global AI capital expenditure surrounding computing, data centers, and electricity will reach approximately $7.6 trillion, with annual investment rising from $765 billion in 2026 to $1.64 trillion in 2031. Hyperscale cloud vendors may invest over $6 trillion in AI by 2030. The key to future competition will not only be models or chips, but also capital structure, energy supply, industry data, engineering capabilities, and deployment capabilities. (Cailian Press)
During his research visit to Guangzhou on the development of the artificial intelligence industry, Meng Fanli emphasized: Accelerate high-level applications across all regions, all times, and all industries to fully promote the high-quality development of the artificial intelligence industry.
According to Mars Finance, Meng Fanli, Deputy Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Guangdong Province, visited several artificial intelligence (AI) companies in Guangzhou. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on Guangdong and Guangzhou, and to earnestly implement the deployments of the Guangdong Symposium on Accelerating the Development of the New Mechatronics Industry and the Guangdong AI Application Matching Conference. He stressed the importance of using more powerful and effective "policies + work" to fully promote the high-quality development of the AI industry and its high-level application across all regions, industries, and sectors, thereby accelerating the cultivation and development of new productive forces. Meng Fanli pointed out that global AI is currently experiencing explosive growth, and Guangdong possesses a strong industrial foundation, rich application scenarios, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem, making its AI industry development promising and highly valuable. He stressed the need to firmly grasp AI as a crucial driving force for the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, vigorously promote its rapid development and application, better empower various industries, bring it into every household, and drive high-quality development. We must fully leverage the advantages of mechatronics and hardware-software synergy, strengthen research and development of key core technologies and the transformation of research results in artificial intelligence, continuously attract investment and talent from across the country and globally, accelerate the strengthening of the entire artificial intelligence industry chain including chips, computing power, algorithms, data, and applications, cultivate a number of large-scale models in vertical fields and small-scale models for specific scenarios, develop and launch more industrial intelligent agents and life intelligent agents, and create a group of leading enterprises with outstanding technical strength, industry influence, and independent ecosystem construction capabilities. We must deepen and expand "AI+", adhering to full coverage, all-time response, and full industry penetration, comprehensively reviewing and fully developing all possible application scenarios in various fields such as intelligent manufacturing, smart parks, smart cities, smart healthcare, and smart transportation, especially accelerating the digital transformation of industrial enterprises, promoting the coordinated development of manufacturing and service industries, and better empowering the construction of a modern industrial system. We must create a first-class industrial ecosystem, comprehensively optimize policy supply, strengthen the guarantee of various factors such as finance, innovation, and talent, improve the artificial intelligence governance system, and promote the integration of large, medium, and small enterprises, upstream and downstream matching, and front-end and back-end closed loops in artificial intelligence development, creating a first-class environment and providing optimal services for high-quality industrial development. Nasdaq makes special arrangements for SpaceX: $42 billion in passive funds were invested; the real test will be the unlocking of the shares on August 6.
According to Mars Finance, on July 6th, fund managers tracking the Nasdaq 100 index will complete a mandatory rebalancing after the market closes on Tuesday, with approximately $4.3 billion passively buying SpaceX (SPCX) shares. Tens of millions of US investors holding Nasdaq funds in 401(k), IRA, or regular accounts will become SpaceX shareholders "passively" without their knowledge. Starting July 7th, SpaceX will officially become a Nasdaq 100 component stock—the fastest company to be added to a major US index in history, with related funds holding approximately 0.5% to 0.7% of the index. Previously, Nasdaq required new stocks to be listed for at least three months and have at least 10% public shareholding before inclusion in the index. However, the new rules that took effect on May 1st significantly lowered the threshold—as long as the market capitalization ranks within the top 40 of existing component stocks, only 15 trading days and 5 days' advance notice are required for "fast inclusion." This rule was implemented exactly six weeks before SpaceX's IPO on June 12th. Critics argue that this window is "too short to complete price discovery," even going so far as to call it "the most shameless manipulation of major indices," benefiting the company, existing shareholders, and the exchange, while passive fund holders are forced to bear the price costs. SpaceX's publicly traded shares account for only 3% to 5%, and with the float multiplier, passive buying far exceeds the actual float's capacity. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 remains unchanged, maintaining its existing 12-month observation period and four consecutive quarters of GAAP profitability requirements. SpaceX reported a net loss of $4.28 billion in the first quarter and a projected loss of $4.94 billion for the full year of 2025, meaning it may not meet the S&P inclusion criteria until mid-2027 at the earliest. Analysts point out that the real test will come on August 6th—when the company releases its first quarterly earnings report, and approximately 20% of insider shares will be released from lock-up, potentially reversing the supply-demand balance due to the disappearance of passive buying and potential selling pressure.
Hygon plans to enter the edge AI market and accelerate the construction of a full-stack autonomous computing system.
