Goldman Sachs: Demand continues to far exceed supply; raises TSMC ADR target price to $600
According to Mars Finance, Goldman Sachs raised its 12-month target price for TSMC from NT$2,750 to NT$3,000 ahead of the company's second-quarter earnings release. The target price for TSMC's ADRs was also raised from US$550 to US$600, with a reiterated "Buy" rating and maintained a PE ratio of 22x based on the company's estimated 2027 EPS. Goldman Sachs believes that demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) has been a structural growth engine for TSMC for many years. Last quarter, the bank observed even stronger momentum in 2027, particularly from demand for AI accelerators and server CPUs, with demand continuing to far exceed supply in both advanced process nodes and advanced packaging. Goldman Sachs expects TSMC to further accelerate its capacity expansion and capital expenditures, while continued productivity improvements and strategic pricing will drive gross margins towards a structurally higher trajectory in 2027 and beyond. Reports indicate that TSMC is significantly expanding its PIC (Picture Assembly and Display) production capacity, which is expected to reach 25,000 wafers per month by 2028.
According to Mars Finance, analysts predict that TSMC's photonic integrated circuit (PIC) production capacity will experience rapid growth. TSMC's capacity is expected to increase from the current level of approximately 500 wafers per month to 10,000 wafers per month by the second quarter of 2026, further increasing to 15,000 wafers per month in the fourth quarter, and projected to reach at least 25,000 wafers per month by 2028. Analysts estimate that, assuming each wafer contains 648 dies, the annualized output of TSMC's PIC production will increase significantly from approximately 4 million units to 78 million units after the monthly capacity increases from 500 to 10,000 wafers. If capacity further reaches 25,000 wafers per month, the annualized PIC output is projected to reach 194 million units. (Taiwan Commercial Times)

XRP Ledger v3.2.0 launched: Node upgrade rate only 43%, and voting on the accompanying security amendment is lagging.
PANews reported on July 8th that, according to CoinDesk, the new version of XRP Ledger server software, v3.2.0, has been launched, aiming to reduce operating costs, improve stability, and enhance its appeal to institutional users. Currently, of the approximately 833 active nodes, 43% are running the new version, while 51% are still using the older v3.1.3. However, about 89% of the 35 validators with default UNL have upgraded, reaching the 80% threshold required for activation. The accompanying security amendment, fixCleanup3_2_0, is still under separate voting. It covers fixes and improvements to single-asset vaults, permissioned DEXs, multi-purpose tokens, and lending protocols, and its current support rate is far lower than the software adoption rate. Ripple has voted in favor of the amendment, and validators who do not upgrade before the amendment's activation may face the risk of having their Ledger connection severed.
