BNY Mellon: FOMO sentiment is driving asset management companies to accelerate the deployment of tokenized ETFs.

PANews reported on June 24th, citing The Block, that Ben Slavin, Global Head of ETFs at BNY Mellon (BNY), stated that asset managers are accelerating their tokenized ETF initiatives, primarily driven by investor demand and "FOMO" (fear of missing out on early opportunities in blockchain finance). Slavin revealed that BNY has several tokenized ETF projects underway, and while regulations and infrastructure are not yet fully in place, many clients are eager to launch their products as soon as possible. He believes that blockchain networks have the potential to become a new distribution channel for traditional investment products, enabling 24/7 holding and transfer of fund units, shortening settlement times, and expanding global investor reach. Slavin also pointed out that hundreds of well-known ETFs are currently trading in tokenized form on unregulated markets, most without direct authorization from the fund sponsors, which poses reputational risks.
